Our Founder

Our Founder, Simon Dussart, is a French national that has been living in Asia for almost a decade. He has been involved in the gem and jewelry trade ever since he arrived.

His initiation to the world of high jewelry started in Hong Kong in 2009. There, he worked for a group of French Jewelers, Enza and Hay Jewellery, that were producing goods for some of Place Vendome's most exclusive designers.

While there, Simon learned of the art of jewelry making by some of the Place Vendome's best goldsmiths and gem setters. With decades of experience working for companies such as Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels, these masters taught Simon how to appreciate a gemstone and what to look for in fine jewelry.

It was when Simon was promoted to a purchasing position for that same group that he became enamored with gemstones.

At first, he only dealt with calibrated and pavé gems. Simon learned how and what to look for in a gemstone, from diamonds to colored gems with guidance from the company's owners. It was also there that Simon was first introduced to the world of capital gems. The first time he saw a perfect, velvety blue unheated Burmese sapphire, he was hooked.

It was then that Simon realized that he could never go back to working with other types of products, for a love for gems was born!

Today, based in Bangkok, and with a fair few years of experience dealing with gem stones, Simon has made a name for himself in the industry. His never ending quest for gems has given him the opportunity to meet and deal with some of the most important figures in the gem trade. Over the years, these figures have become his close friends and mentors.

From experienced gem cutter and emerald specialist Isaac M. Stern to investment stone dealer Jeffery "Master" Bergman, founder of Primagem or the Irsutti father and son duo (GILT and Arjuna Irsutti Photography), Simon and the Asia Lounges Team have been groomed into a force to be reckoned with in the gem trade.

See you in the Lounges!
